On the evening February 25th over 500 women and men ascended upon the CBC Building downtown Toronto to attend the ‘Love Her’ event in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada. The evening was filled with fashion, food, fun and emotion. While the evening’s MC Jessica Holmes provided light-hearted commentary, Caly Bevier, an Ovarian Cancer survivor herself, sang the moving ballad ‘Fight Song’ which brought tears to those in the audience.

The evenings entertainment was not only musical – there was a live auction, fashion show and many surprise guests. During the fashion show Rick Mercer appeared on the runway toting a stunning yellow purse. During the men’s show radio and television personalitiy, Mike Bullard also made an appearance.

The live auction offered many luxury items offering winners trips to Los Angeles and St. Lucia as well as some highly sought after tickets to concerts and sporting events. One of the most desirable live auction items may have been provided by the Toronto Fire Department, who offered some of their finest men in uniform to serve you and six guests at your own privately catered dinner party. To extend their generosity even further, the firefighters showed onsite support at the event where they assisted with raffling some of the prizes.

Ovarian Cancer Canada is the only organization in Canada that is solely dedicated to battling ovarian cancer. By providing emotional and physical support as well as funding research and raising awareness, Ovarian Cancer Canada is truly a progressive organization. At the ‘Love Her’ event the organizations ongoing social media campaign #LadyBalls went viral. Through onsite multimedia offerings as well as via social media platforms the powerful hashtag went viral, something that shows the sheer power of the female community.
